Aston's Specialities
along Katong Road, directly opp Katong Mall

met Tim to try out Aston's today. cause this little typical outlet at Katong have been catching quite alot of our attention. Mainly cause of the never-ending queue u will catch whenever u pass by along Katong Road. so to check it out and give our verdict, we were prepared to queue for it today!

Upon reaching Aston's, Tim called me up to say that its closed! saying that the shutters were down and he suspect its only open for dinner, cause i've never pass by the place in the noon to notice whether its open for lunch. still, since he's already there, and i'm already on my way..

we met up at Katong Mall and i notice this little queue outside Aston's even though its closed.
oh yeah, and as we thought, the people are queuing for it to open it doors for lunch! we joined in and queue along.. lucky us, we were like 3rd in the line and before it open its doors, there were at least 10 to 20 behind us..

i realised a few things!
they sorta created the queue
1. the place is pretty small, little seats - therefore the wait
2. (u can see frm the 2nd photo below) they place the menu right at the entrance, so u can actually decide on ur meal upon reaching the counter, which u cant really see frm the photos, its actually behind the "menu" the queue starts when ppl have to wait for everyone else in front to place their orders- select their side dishes to go along with the main course blah blah blah. aft ordering, u will den be lead to ur table by one of their waiters

im not sure if its a good way of ordering but it definitely did create a eye-catching queue. and im first attracted to try Aston's because of its queue..

and of cos, Tim mentioned, its also because its "cheap and good" something singaporeans love the most. best combi! cheap & good!

Cuisine: Western - from steaks to chicken, burgers and pastas
Ambience: 2/5 -2person tables are pretty close
Value of money: 4.8/5 - thats why its so crowded, no service charge, no GST
Quality: 4/5 - its not WOAH, but yeah, for the price you're paying, its good
Location: 4/5 - for the east siders, east to get a cab too
Service: 3/5 - not much service, but generally helpful and friendly, no service charge!

this is Rib Eye (250g!!) just $15.90

Double Chicken (choice of 2 kinda chicken, for mine is BBQ and Black Pepper)
$9.90

all main courses comes with 2 choices of sides. with a pretty broad selection, frm their special tasty rice to french fries to baked pototoes, coleslaw etc

i would definitely go back there again before the service charge and GST comes into the pic. i think the main attraction of the place is the reasonably cheap price for quality food, generous portion and yea, quite alot of variety to choose frm..

on the special menu there's this $63.90 Wagyu beef. we were both pretty tempted! but den, we have sorta decided to go for Morton's at Oriental for steak following sunday, so i guess, we shall keep this meal simple and budget. i hope that Morton's dont disappoint me.. cause ive heard how good that 200bucks steak is.. it better be as tasty as chewing two 100-dollar-banknote :p

in the evening when i pass by Aston's again, before going to the Indoor Stadium - Jumbo Seafood for my aunt's birthday dinner, DAMN such long queue! at least 30 of them queuing out there man..

all east siders! queue of Aston's soon! try it man. its really not bad =)

dinner was nice. eating black pepper crab made me think of my ah gong, cause during his last few days, he kept mentioning he wanted to have it, we tried to buy it frm his fave stall along siglap but they didn't have crabs to sell just the night before he left us.

=) goodnight world.

P.S : tmr is Chelz first day of school!
